Here at STACS, we see Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as a way to balance acceptance and change at the same time. This approach was originally created to help people who experience emotions very intensely, while teaching healthier ways to respond to those feelings.
With this therapeutic approach, you and your therapist build practical skills in distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, an mindfulness. The goal is to help you navigate overwhelming emotions, improve relationships, and manage stressful situations without making them worse.
You might like this approach if you’re thinking: “My emotions feel overwhelming sometimes, and I want better tools to handle them.”
