I specialize in teens and young adults navigating life transitions and in adults who recognize that old thinking patterns are no longer helpful. I use CBT to examine thought patterns closely and understand how they have developed over time. Together we work to understand this history and context to build compassion for our current selves, moving from a place of shame to one of empowerment.
I draw on components of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Reality-Based Therapy. During any life transition, we consider whether our choices and actions bring us closer to or further from our desired destination and work to reclaim your own power and agency to move toward the identified change. I incorporate mindfulness practices to focus on the present moment, reducing anxious thinking and depressive symptoms.
Understanding that there is no one size fits all approach, I support developing personalized coping skills to manage difficult and overwhelming emotions I also incorporate art and other creative outlets to support emotional expression and build insight. I work to create a warm, inviting, relaxed, non-judgemental atmosphere where we can both show up authentically in our work together.
My Story
When I’m not in the office I am spending time outside regardless of the season. I enjoy skiing, biking, the beach, and any waterbased activity in general. I can always be found looking for cool rocks and treasures. I am also involved with various local social justice initiatives and advocacy work to support change beyond our individual work.
